3 Reasons Why You Need an Engagement Session

Okay, grab another glass of whatever you’re sippin’ on because you finally said “YES!” to your other half! Congratulations!! This is the time you’ve been dreaming about for longer than you can count- soak it all in. Now that you’re in the midst of planning your wedding, chances are you have found your DREAM photographer or have an idea of who that might be. And if you’re like me, the pre-camera jitters have already kicked in.

Being in front of the camera isn’t on everyone’s favorite-thing-to-do list, but when it comes to such an important & special chapter in your story, you want all of the memories you can hold on to. Although your wedding will bring the most beautiful memories and photographs, your engagement is a time to truly remember and celebrate- having an engagement session is the perfect way to do that! But there are also a few other reasons...

1. Get to Know YOUR Photographer!

Finding a photographer who you can trust to document your day to perfection can be a daunting task. Once you find them, while you may love their work, style, and vibe, it’s important to get to know them as a person as well, especially before your big day! Having an engagement session is a great way to do this in a relaxed setting while also getting some great photos for the walls of your home or Save the Dates for your guests!

2. Get Rid of the Pre-Camera Jitters

It’s not everyday that you are in front of a camera just bein’ cute with your other half, but when you’re getting married it’s inevitable! Having an engagement session is the best way to get comfortable in front of the camera! If you’re able to communicate with your photographer that you are a little nervous or self-conscious, they will be able to be more conscientious about making you as comfortable as possible- that’s what we’re here to do!

3. Lock Down a Few Favorite Poses

Having a few favorite poses in your back pocket isn’t a bad idea especially for the brides that are a little more nervous about being in front of the camera. During your engagement session, not only will you become more comfortable in front of the camera, you’ll be able to see which poses+prompts you really love and want to bring back on your wedding day!

This chapter in your story is all about you two and your love. At the end of the day, you should do what feels authentic to you as a couple. If having an engagement session feels like the right decision, but you’re not sure what the right place is check out my IG post here to help you decide!
