I’m Engaged...Now What?
1. Enjoy
You’ve found the one you want to spend the rest of your life with, the Jim to your Pam, the Christina to your Meredith, your other half, your person. No matter what you have to do to fully soak in these first few months of engagement bliss- do it.
Throw a low key engagement party with your friends, take excessive pics of the ring that you’ll be looking at the rest of your life, spend time with one another.
This is the time you have been dreaming of most of your life, and now that it’s here...ENJOY it.
2. Envision
Now that you have soaked in alllll of the engagement bliss (don’t worry, it never really ends), it’s time to start envisioning what you both want your day to look like, most importantly; the vibe, the size, and the budget.
When you finally say “I do”, where are you? In the middle of the woods, surrounded by loved ones or In front of the ocean, with the waves crashing behind you?
When you envision a wedding party, do you see it filled with all of your bridesmaids + groomsmen or do you see keeping it simple with a Maid of Honor and a Best Man?
Once you guys have agreed on a budget, the vibe, and the size, start creating a massive “mood board” for your wedding on Pinterest. Pin all of your favorite color palettes, textures, floral arrangements, speciality cocktails, and start to watch your vision come to life.
Within this Pinterest board make sure to include different sections so you can organize what you like for each such as; reception, ceremony, florals, food, etc.
3. Create
Okay, now that we have the vision it’s time to start bringing it to life.
Believe it or not, this can be as low-key and stress-free as possible.
First, decide whether or not you’ll want a wedding coordinator to take the big stuff over for you or just a month of/day of planner so that you can enjoy every last moment of engagement bliss and of course, your wedding day.
After you decide on whether or not to have a coordinator, it’s time to start bringing the rest of your vendor dream team to life. Choose your photographer (and videographer) next!! *Both of these vendors along with venues are some of the quickest to book up - especially with 2020 & 2021 wedding postponements so make sure to plan ahead!
As you start to pull your vendor fam together, feel free to send them your “mood board” from Pinterest (once you cull it down and curate it a bit) so that everyone on your side is on the same page and bringing the same vision to life!
When everyone is inline with what you want to make happen- it makes the planning and creative process MUCH easier and more ENJOYABLE! Because that’s what it should be!!
